Proposing with engagement rings can inspire some romantic and unique moments. The traditional down on one knee, offering up the engagement ring and asking 'Will you marry me?' however isn't enough for some people. Once they've bought the engagement rings, it seems they can get somewhat carried away by the moment. In one case a couple who took their engagement rings out to sea to propose had to be dramatically rescued from their dinghy.
Engagement Rings – Out to Sea
The couple were wearing full evening wear the BBC reported, enjoying a champagne picnic at sea when their dinghy went dangerously adrift. Onlookers raised the alarm after watching the boat drift for a mile in windy conditions. A fishing boat came to their rescue after the pair had swapped engagement rings and said 'I do'. The groom-to-be said they were both strong swimmers and never in danger. He proposed with the engagement rings in a traditional way, if in a bizarre setting, bringing the oars in to get down on one knee. The engagement ring was a vintage diamond ring and he proposed as the sun set, and although the dramatic rescue wasn't planned, the cheering crowd on their arrival back on the beach 'sealed' the evening.
Engagement Rings Swapped in the Aisles
But it doesn't have to be out at sea, on top of mountains or in exotic locations for love to blossom. For a couple who worked at their local supermarket, they found love over the frozen peas aisle. The couple met at the supermarket and the pair swapped engagement rings in front of their store colleagues. But it wasn't just where they swapped engagement rings – the pair went one step further and actually hosted their wedding in the Tesco branch. It may not sound as grand as swapping engagement rings in the ocean as the sun sets, but the moment perhaps had more romance stripped of glamour or artifice: “Our eyes just met over Till Eight I suppose,” the bride to be told the press.
After the pair had swapped engagement rings, they hosted the ceremony in front of 50 wedding guests in a back room of the store – the bride being walked down a different kind of aisle!
It may seem bizarre, but swapping engagement rings in places that mean something to the couple can be hugely romantic – even an everyday supermarket can take on romantic airs.
